University of Franche-Comté
Founded in 1423, the University of Franche-Comté (UFC) is a multidisciplinary higher education institution, on a human scale, deeply rooted in its territory and with international ambitions. Established on five sites (Besançon, Belfort, Montbéliard, Vesoul and Lons-le-Saunier), UFC has nearly 30,000 students and 2,500 academic and administrative staff. It is one of the founding members of the federation of the higher education institutions of Burgundy and Franche-Comté (Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté).
UFC offers a wide choice of quality programs, with all levels of European diplomas: technical university diplomas (DUT), undergraduate degrees, professional undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, doctoral degrees, engineering degrees, master of engineering (CMI), Health degrees, but also specific short diplomas (DU), preparation for entrance exams and tailor-made trainings for professionals.
UFC focuses its policy on the link between education, research and innovation. It is also the second French university to have obtained the European label ‘HR Excellence in Research’ - a recognition of the initiatives implemented to provide researchers with good conditions.
Thanks to the excellence of its Centre for Applied Linguistics and its 300 partner universities around the world, UFC welcomes more than 6,500 international students of around 130 different nationalities. For the quality of the welcome offered to them, UFC was awarded the "Welcome to France" label.
Students’ success and well-being is enhanced by UFC thanks to specific services (large network of university libraries, co-working spaces, etc.), numerous cultural, sports and leisure activities as well as lots of dynamic student associations.
